This is a clear example of leadership, of courage, of conviction- AOC is not afraid of the bullying tactics of this despicable administration and is a shining light for those individuals under attack by the “border czar” -i despise that term! Take notice, Democrats, and follow her example!

Re: Hochul declining to remove Adams. Lawrence O’Donnell—I think on Wednesday night—explained how she doesn’t have the authority to do that. It was complicated & I can’t remember the details. Maybe you should look that segment up.

I thought the exact same thing you did, SD. I watched the same episode of the great Lawrence O'Donnell's The Last Word as well. One can usually count on him to know what he's talking about. From what I recall, getting rid of Adams is a very lengthy process. Gov. Hochul can't just simple wave a magic wand and make Adams poof into thin air. Would that it would be that simple.

AOC is a fighter. If she attracts the ire of thug Tom Homan's, she MUST be doing something right. AOC may be small in physical stature, but she is a giant when it comes to loudly speaking truth to power. You go, girl!!

Courage and greatness come in all sizes, shapes and colors. AOC is a role model for all women today. I'm proud I walked with 200 Pueblo, Colorado residents on Presidents Day. It was just a gesture, but it was better than staying home, away from the walk.

Today I had lunch with two women who had no idea what is proposed under the SAVE act, which supposedly makes our elections more secure. It requires legal proof of our current name, even if it has changed by virtue of divorce or remarriage after the death of a spouse. If we produce a birth certificate that doesn't match our current legal name, we are under suspicion. This information isn't just required for registering to vote - it would be required for a simple change of address regarding voter registration. The SAVE act is designed to limit the number of women who can vote.

Women who married or divorced used to be able to simply notify most parties of their name change. It didn't even need to be in writing.

🤗🤗🤗for AOC, 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ for Schumer and Jeffries. Did these two Democratic leaders live in La-La land after the election? Felon 47 was clear about what he was going to do, so why didn’t the Democratic leaders spend the time before the inauguration to make a strategy to confront Felon 47 and his administration from Day 1. The Democrats need a new strong leadership. AOC, Pete, Raskin and Murphy are gutsy Democrats who can provide a viable opposition.

Thanks PN again for a very valuable article🙏; you are the best.🌹

Happy Weekend everyone, and look after yourselves.

For all her public speech about protecting democracy, we haven't heard a peep from Kamala Harris.

AOC method is excellent! More leaders should post online town halls on the topics their constituents need to hear. Following mainstream news does not tell it all. Fox spins the topics. It's sad that so many people are impressed by his actions with "He's doing something." But they don't understand that what he is doing is going to come back to bite them. They should watch "The Apprentice" and see what he really is deep down inside--no heart for other's pain only for his own gain. It's not only building money forhimself, it is for building his ego.

Schumer -- what a fool!!! Please! SOMEONE! Get him out of there!

Meanwhile: GO AOC!!! Too bad that Nancy Pelosi blocked your appointment as Minority Chair of the House Oversight Committee. The Oldsters just can't let go, no matter what it's doing to the Democratic party.

And this may be the reason why resistance is so slow and so weak. We need energized leadership to stand up to the burgeoning dictatorship now forming in our government. Wake up, Democrats and bring in more inspired and motivated leadership.

The Democrats are still living in their little bubble of politics as usual. It was also Joe Biden's big mistake. Truth is, you can't "compromise" with tyranny. In fact, Americans in general are not taking things seriously because of the same reason. And the right wing, who were protected by the very Constitution they have decided to destroy, doesn't realize that it has protected them for generations. The reason they exist is because of the Bill of Rights.

My Chicago grandkids are in public schools. The High School held an assembly to teack the kids their rights. The grade school notified parents of steps taken to prevent ICE from interrupting the school day. Both kids now have a clear understanding of their rights and both schools are locked against everyone, including lawless ICE agents.

How about your school kids? Are they safe?

AOC is the only member of Congress who has the bartending experience needed to shut down a shit-talking man-baby like Homan.

It's understandable that many lawyers would refuse to participate in the scheme to use the threat of criminal prosecution (of Mayor Adams) to extract concessions or promises from Mayor Adams. A lot of law governing attorney professional misconduct makes such threats unlawful. See, e.g., https://www.americanbar.org/content/dam/aba/publications/YourABA/201108makingthreats.authcheckdam.pdf

Lawrence O’Donnell has stated on his show - more than once - that contrary to what some have been claiming, Gov. Hochul DOES NOT have the authority to remove Mayor Adams from office. She would have to schedule a hearing that would function like a mini trial, with witnesses, etc. that would be subject to appeals and could take months if not years to finally resolve.

I think you can sum up the last paragraph with “they have to have courage”, and that is is incredibly short supply in our government on both sides. Thank goodness we have a few exceptions.

Good for AOC, who won hands down. But it is truly said that there is no advantage, tactical or strategic greater than fighting a dummy.

It was on one of the Meidas Touch Brother's podcasts. They were talking about Pete Hegseth's cringey performance in Munich and riffing about what it was like. And Ben said everyone in the audience sat in stunned silence thinking - did he just take a shit on the stage. I found it an apt metaphor and hilarious.
