Harris-Walz may finally be managing to correct the false narrative that republicans are better on the economy. It boggles the mind that republicans and corporate media have been able to create and sell the big lie that democrats are bad for the economy. It has become an established fact in the minds of the majority. The indisputable reality is that the economy performs better under democrats and has for a very long time. But corp media continues to push the big lie e.g., they continue suppress and distort the phenomenal economic success of the Biden Harris administration. Even so, we may finally be seeing a reset with the Harris-Walz campaign. With these two phenomenal candidates, the truth may finally be breaking through. It's long overdue.

Excellent analysis, especially on Vance who’s been part of the problem since elected to the Senate. Imagine if Senators and Representatives voted for their constituents rather than plotting the way for Trump to declare that Biden’s term of office wasn’t successful. In fact, Trump’s meddling over the immigration bill was symptomatic of the power plays of the past four years to derail progress in our country, the tip of the iceberg. Thus the need to elect Kamala Harris, who played a key role in passage of important legislation when her tie-breaking votes kept us going. We must elect and keep a blue majority until Republicans shed their “dear leader(s)” and come to their senses and protect society from the current reverse gear Republicans who blindly sell themselves to the Devil named Donald Trump.

Vance’s childcare plan is forcing women out of the workforce & into the home. He says it enough. In different ways. We should believe him. He sneeringly said taking care of kids is the role of post menopausal women.

The failures of Trump’s “economic policy” have become so evident, it begs the question why so many donors and Republican politicians back such wrongheadedness. The answer, obviously, is power and a return to those heady days of blatant Jim Crow.

Trump still believes in the debunked theory of trickle down because he benefits as do his wealthy donors. Tariffs are very regressive, hurting those voters who spend a much larger proportion of their incomes on consumer goods. Trump has also promised not to tax tips, overtime pay, or the portion of Social Security payments subjected to tax due to those taxpayers having other sources of income (pensions, investment income, etc.), to eliminate the SALT deduction limits and to allow interest on car loans to be deductible. He's in the "chicken in every pot" stage of the campaign. At the same time, Trump, Vance and Project 2025 would decimate the Federal income tax system, along. with Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Most states use your Federally determined adjusted gross income (or an equivalent) to calculate your state income tax. Messing around at the Federal level also negatively impacts state tax revenue, or requires states to add complexity by adding back Federal deductions. Of course, Trump probably couldn't even spell economics let alone understand the impacts. And, he doesn't care.

I wrote about the debate on my SubStack last week on how the social psychology of persuasion tells us while in the short term strong speaker characteristics beat decent message, over time the message remains and becomes stronger. Exactly what you illustrated here.

My husband, a life-long Republican, is voting straight Democratic this year. This will mark the second time he has voted a straight ticket in his 66 years of life. For once, he hasn't said a word about my contributions to Democratic candidates or issues! Then again, I'd gladly take his carping if it meant that we had TWO sane people running for President rather than just one. #HarrisWalz <3
