And more fleeing their countries because of corruption. Colorado, Arizona etc are already at war over water rights. Voters keep supporting the biggest dipshits possible. Or it's a coup. The rich are buying up our resources. Countries will war over this. It's not looking real promising. The poor are abused for reaching out for help. And the wealthy write fucking laws to take it. Heavy sigh.
I know—what America needs in another FDR, but instead we got...Joe Biden. Who is MUCH better than the alternative right now, and is at least trying to do right by Americans. But his task is Sisyphean, and I'm not even sure he can take that boulder to the top one time, let alone repeatedly.
I voted for Bernie Sanders every chance I got, but while I believe he's got great ideas and an ability to reach across to both Leftist and Conservative voters? He's got the problem with the Economic Elites of not being "their sort" (went to Brooklyn College and graduated from the University of Chicago, neither what you'd call "Ivy League" schools!), being a secular Jew (pogrom begins in three...two...), and being older than either Biden OR Trump. Even though he's in superb shape for a man his age, he'd still be 83 if he entered the White House in January 2025, and in his Nineties when he left if he served two terms.
Maybe AOC if she maintains the Path of Progressive Righteousness? But if she ran in 2028 she'd be the youngest major-party Presidential candidate ever (five years younger than JFK), and while I admire a lot about her she's not quite figured out how to wrestle around the Clinton NeoLibs who still hold too much power in Congress.
I feel Biden has done a great job. Just like Obama or any Democrat in office Republicans are going to fight them till their last breath. He knows. What he's accomplished in this period of incompetence is noteworthy. Unions are very important to me. My Irish relatives got their heads cracked open so we can enjoy our coffee breaks. I meet my husband at a protest rally a hundred years ago.
AOC reminds of the female version of Bernie. My kids love Bernie. They still have their Paul Wellstone coffee mugs.
Right now we need to be a united front. Agent Orange is dangerous because he will do anything to get what he wants. His family is their to serve him. That is one seriously fucked up family. Jr is coked up trying to make daddy like him. Eric would hide if he could. The Saudi wannabe Princess is a clone of her father. And the last one is crying to her therapist 'why doesn't he love me. He wants to have sex with my sister. What about me?' We have to stop this train. This is insanity at its finest.
We do need to be a united front against that Feces-Flinging Orangutan—but let's not pretend Biden is "The Reincarnation of FDR" as the Dems tried to claim, because THAT alienates Leftist voters who are frankly SICK of Clinton NeoLiberalism and its incrementalist "stagedy"(sic.)! It's time for bold Progressive action, and while Biden's been a LOT bolder than I ever would have expected, there's still a long way to go before we starting fixing what nearly a quarter-century of Republican/Clinton misrule inflicted on the U.S. and the world.
That's what we're giving him—not a mandate to do as he (or the DNC Donor class) like, but a chance to make things...more betterer in his second term. The Trumps have already damned themselves for all time, and they just keep digging that pit into Hell deeper every time Diaperstain Donnie opens his sphincter-like mouth.
Vote for Biden? Hell, yes! But be ready to hold his feet to the fire, as well, because there is no "We could be at Brunch right now" at the end of this election.
I don't pretend he's FDR. We definitely need Progressive action. That's what moves us forward. Clinton sold us down river. NAFTA killed what was left of the middle class in this country. I know I can't afford another Republican president. I don't have another do over left in me. It took 8 years for my family to recover from 2009. I don't disagree with you. Hold Joe to the fire. That's what he signed up for. And legalize weed for all. We could cancel those criminal student loans with those funds. Free education for everyone. Privatization is killing us.
Sorry if it sounded like I jumped down your throat, Lisa59. You sound like you have a great family, and a very supportive one, and I may even be a bit envious despite the hard times you've had.
It's what my shrink used to call "Bad Tapes" that I picked up from Hillary Rodham Clinton's disastrous 2016 run, where she and her fan base seemed more determined to CRUSH! Bernie Sanders than Donald Trump. She so clearly considered The White House her entitlement, and more clearly had so little to offer compared to Sanders, that I couldn't believe the effort put into pushing her forward, especially given she treated the General Election as a cakewalk rather than a battle—and when she lost, she blamed everything from "Russian Interference!" to Bernie Sanders (who did more to get her elected once she was the Democratic Candidate than SHE ever did!) rather than looking in the mirror.
2024 is no cakewalk, so we all need to do what we can to make sure this is a fair election with a MASSIVE turnout for the Democratic Party. Of course, it's just my luck that I moved from NY State, where one of my Senator was Chuck "I ❤️ Wall Street and Netanyahu, and the rest of you...I'll get around to your needs, eventually" Schumer to New Jersey, where one of my Senators is...Bob Menendez.
You're fine. Actually, I come from a family with Narcissist Personality disorder. My parents, grandparents (on one side) and a few siblings. I have been going through life with boxing gloves on. I just finished DBT therapy and I'm moving on to complex trauma therapy. I was a drug and alcohol counselor for a long time. I did a lot of work in the community. Now I live on edibles. I consider myself an expert on NPD. I know exactly who Agent Orange is what he's capable of. It's like pointing a hose at a 4 alarm fire and the GQP just shut the water off. We all feeling the effects of Narcissist abuse. I feel your pain. We will fight this battle and win. We have too!!
PS: Marijuana should absolutely be legalized, even if I can't smoke it because I get the 'snoids when I do. It used to be I didn't notice it because I was usually drunk when I got high, but I quit drinking forty years ago....
Good for you. That's not an easy thing to do. 40 years is something to be very proud of. We had a no alcohol rule in my house. There is too much alcoholism in my family. Saved us years of grief.

Yeah, the crook.... 🤦♂️
