The only argument he did not make was that the entire case should be dismissed because he is special.

Thank you for your in depth explanation of the issues regarding this case and Trump’s response- I pray that the charges remain and that on January 21, 2029 he is rewarded with a pair of shiny new bracelets!

Reflecting upon Trump’s “spittle-flecked rant”… seems obvious (at least to me) that this rant was written by another—too many polysyllabic words. So here, as elsewhere, Trump neither reads nor writes for himself. Does he think for himself, or is that the new job for Elon Musk?

I, too felt that his rant used words he doesn’t usually write in his media posts. Not only is he spitting mad, he is at a loss to be able to communicate his fury and had to get help from a smarter, more educated writer to translate his anger into something most of us can understand. I must chuckle with glee.

For as serious as the subject is, this was a really fun read. It tells the truth cogently, with punch and wit throughout e.g., "the president elect fired off a spittle-flecked rant that was inchoate even by his own debased standards," and "Justice Merchan responded dryly..." Truth need not be dry.

Hey, I just signed up to be a subscriber. Thank you for the end of year sale. I dropped the WaPo subscription I have maintained since journalism school (2006), and decided that supporting you is a logical next step. Keep up the good work Aaron, stay safe.

Excellent writing about a long list of attempts to avoid justice, with Justices themselves assisting. Depressing Depressing Depressing. Where does this leave our country of laws if he is never held to account?

Yeah, so, we are still a country of laws, except when we're not, and all of us are equal under the law unless you're white and have mountains of money, in which case you're a lot more equal than the rest of us. (apologies to George Orwell)

"American people gave President Trump a powerful national mandate to Make America Great Again, and to address the harms perpetrated by the Biden-Harris Administration, including their unsuccessful lawfare using DANY, Smith, and others."

Narrator: It was not a powerful national mandate, and no harms were perpetrated.

I wouldn't hire Bove and Blanche to defend me on a speeding ticket. But on the other hand, they'd do and say whatever I told them to, no matter how outrageous, so.........
