At sentencing the judge should confront Trump about his statements about the judge and the court and give him the chance to repeat or retract them … if he doesn’t back down, he should be held in contempt and jailed immediately. Soft treatment of Trump over his entire adult life has enabled the rise of fascism and it needs to stop now. I’m sick of the “legal experts” enabling the destruction of our legal system.
I'm not necessarily disheartened, however, many legal experts immediately buy Trump's BS and that is disheartening. On the charges that Leticia James brought, you had talking heads saying that it was a victimless crime. Fraud! Victimless?! In NYC?!
Now, I'm reading articles that Fani Willis "blew it". Just don't even start with me on that one. There are no rules against the relationship, she didn't pay her boyfriend more money, she didn't accept gifts from him. Period. Keep in mind that she is bringing RICO charges against Trump for committing a coup. These are not equal issues.
The amount of deference this old, hateful, rude, entitled, selfish, vindictive, and irresponsible baby of a man has received is unbelievable. He has disrespected the courts, the legal system, the rule of law over and over again and in return he gets treated like a poorly trained puppy rather than the dangerous, ignorant, weaponized billboard for privilege and how the legal system treats "white collar" crimes and those who commit them. It's been made painfully clear that justice doesn't actually apply to Trump or his associates in much of a meaningful way. The consequences of white collar crime ( at this point let's just call it rich people behaving badly) like tax evasion, misuse of public funds, wage theft, arguably if the justice system could be bothered to investigate and prosecute these crimes with a fraction of the energy law enforcement uses on the surveillance and punishment of the poor I believe the majority of non-violent offenders and a not insignificant number of violent crimes wouldn't have been committed because we'd have enough money to build a better system for all of us. If wage theft was taken seriously probably petty financial crimes would drop significantly. But when a poor person doesn't get paid enough to renew the tags on their car the consequences can start a series of events that destroys their lives. Over less than $100. Trump (and not just Trump) is allowed to mock our laws, lie about our history, intimidate the judge and even found guilty he is getting close to zero punishment. It's not a coincidence it's these charges and the civil trial that are the only cases that have been actually successfully brought. The privilege and deference the wealthy get is apparently literally more important to law enforcement and the entire legal system than anything else.
Prison time would be good to satisfy us giving the revenge and retribution Trump deserves for attempting to destroy this country in numerous ways: all the lying and cheating, the dividing. The prosecuted and yet to be prosecuted Trump cases in aggregate, whether he serves jail or not, including the Jan 6th committee presentation and two impeachments should follow him for the rest of his days. A shameful episode in our country's history and a shame on us... continuing. It's not over.

I don't know why the system just doesn't throw him in fucking prison for the rest of his miserable life, just on contempt charges.

Do better America.
Michael Cohen went to jail. Trump should too.
He went to prison. I'm not being a jerk, but there is a big difference between jail and prison.
Good point!
"Trump has been granted an enormous amount of slack not shown to other criminal defendants."
TRUMP: The UNFAIRNESS to which I have been treated, (the likes of which NO previous President has had to endure,) is UNAMERICAN!!
So no American is treated with the same degree of inequality as Trump?
Sounds about right.
