Surely its time now to speak loudly and clearly: there's no way a man like this won an election fairly and without interference.

You clearly have a much higher opinion of U.S. voters than I do. Are you a white man by any chance?

I think it helps us to understand where people are coming from. It is not thatwe should be divided by identity, but some are going to be in the role of victims and others of allies.

My White, male, permanent resident Immigrant husband is currently in the US not worried about the things to come, whereas I, his brown skinned US born and raised wife am abroad worrying about things to come, and that when I go to the US I will have to make sure to have my passport on me, since I might be picked up by ICE in my city which is targeted for action because of my physical appearance. I noticed no one in China town is being targeted. Returning a plane full of Chinese citizens to China may be more than Trump wants to deal with right now. No one in the Indian community from what I have heard. So, this is about south of the Border and the rest of the Americas.

I am getting stories on the ground from my friends living in Chicago, who are sickened by the activity.

Lol. Do you even know what "identity politics" is?? If you white guys had been paying attention to people of color, especially Black women, and lesbians and gay men and many others, we wouldn't be in this mess. P.S. "Fascism" has an "s" in it.

To quote Wikipedia: "Many socialists, anarchists and Marxists have criticized identity politics for its divisive nature, claiming that it forms identities that can undermine their goals of proletariat unity and class struggle"

I think that applies here. Am I a white man by any chance? That kind of identity politics just doesn't matter - its needlessly divisive and undermines class struggle.

All I can add- God help us. I am thankful that my parents are no longer alive, sparing them another 4 years of Trump- this does not reflect the country that my father signed up at age 17 to defend in WW2

This is a great piece, very necessary. I don't understand why the f word is avoided though. This piece could have been written by Robert Paxton showing examples of why Trump is a fascist.

I was going to rant about how they have an 800+ page playbook and we seem to have nothing. But I am not a finger pointer and never will be. I know there are myriad efforts underway to fight back and I will help them in what ever ways I can. I'm also hoping that we will find our footing for bigger, more consolidated efforts. We just have to find a way.

Slash and burn, break the law. The edicts of the week from the psychopathic neo-fascist are not sustainable, but meant to rile you. Nothing is gained. What we can block, we will block. What we can delay, we will delay. Of grave consequence, we lack any support from the DNC. So, we must muster the troops ourselves, here on Substack. I have the start of a name for the foe: psychopathic neo-fascists. I have a start on an organized platform. I intended to offer my brainstorming process pro bono, but no one at the DNC returns calls or emails. No one is home. I find the leadership lives all over the country, and does not work at headquarters. This needs an overhaul. Hundreds of $ millions in donations and no on-site leadership. I call for positive steps to build a permanently working DNC. If the DNC will not change, we either keep our change in our own pockets, or donate the change directly to our candidate. https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/i-will-call-the-dnc-today?r=3m1bs

Noah, we’ll be lucky if the terror is only for four years! :(

In the meantime, I have a mini guide on ways to resist. But the threat in it seems kind of gentle now.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) the RFK Jr. hearings happen. If he’s confirmed, we can welcome back polio. (Don’t call him “RFK” – his father must be turning in his grave. He’s “Jr.”)

Reach out to friends in purple or red states and urge them to contact their Senators about Cabinet nominees. Some GOP Senators might be swayed if enough people speak out. There are hints that some are becoming dismayed by our new President’s actions.

If your Senators are Democrats – still, let them know your views. They need to hear how much their constituents care: An significant number of elected Democrats are caving already and voting to pass some horrible bills (e.g. Laken Riley). If you don’t have your Congress people on speed dial, just google their names. (Contact their Washington office, not their local office.)

Make a separate phone call (or email) each time you contact your Congresspeople. Each constituent opinion is noted individually and tallied. Our Senators want to be re-elected, so your opinion matters.

Soon we’ll be calling to speak out against Kash Patel.

And if you don’t receive Indivisible’s emails, pls. sign up. They are a real powerhouse - and they suggest bite-size actions we can take each week.

Hmm. I'd suggest this is a moderately strong case not helped by over-statement. The headline is the sort of thing I expect to read in the hysterical right wing press and not in Public Notice. Before I get piled on I'd say that today things are definitely at a higher risk but we're still a fair way short of pre-Civil War level.

I was accused of excusing Trump because I suggested his weird forward-leaning posture was due to risers. It was a guess.
