My house has two and a half gender neutral bathrooms, as do the neighbors on either side. One actually has three gender neutral bathrooms.

Better be careful--there will soon be a federal law prohibiting that. They will check the IRS records to see if you took a property tax deduction (or your landlord did) and conclude that such a deduction puts your house under federal power.

If we, by some miracle, manage to have actual elections that get an actual government back in place sometime down the line, every single person working for trump needs to be thrown into prison for the rest of their lives. Along with every single Republican in the country. And everyone who voted for trump needs to have their voting rights permanently revoked.

This is depressing and disempowering.

Please consider not filing a story until you have at least one resource, one piece of advice, one place we can call.

I think in this case, it would be the governor, telling them you expect them to stand up to this, since education is in fact a function at the state level.

For people with Democratic representatives, they should be holding town halls, that's probably a place to participate and ask questions about this as well.

You can also ask your local school principal what they plan to do about this.

I think this is the most disgusting thing rump has done. The students don’t deserve this treatment.

Too bad I'm not still in high school. I could bring a complaint that the Chess Club was discriminatory against people like me who are rotten at chess--and this, pro "elitism."

I'm at a loss how public schools, by admitting all students, are practicing "affirmative action."

Project 2025 has a bit in its screed about eliminating the Dept of Education that should scare the bejasus out of anyone who cares about the Establishment Clause. It plans on spreading the funding the Department does provide amongst various other agencies which lack any expertise in education--and allowing the funding to be in "block grants" to states with no accountability for use of them other than "not illegal under state law." This means that ALL federal funding in some states can be used for voucher programs.

Most education is funded by state taxes, and if a state is red enough to have its taxpayers consent to using those funds for vouchers, that is one thing: a question of constitutionality but at least supported by "consent of the governed." There is NO consent from those taxpayers in other states who do not agree with vouchers, and who actually tend to be the source of funds to be used for education in most red states--to have their tax dollars used for such purposes.

Our foreign policy lacks adult leadership. The world is dumbfounded by your dummies going abroad. At least our leaders are not yet shooting our citizens, but they will crack skulls and shoot us. We need to be ready for that fork in the road. https://bit.ly/4b5wkL4
