At a time in which so many people in the world need the support of us, our “leadership “ has chosen to turn our back on the suffering and hopelessness of them. What a display of the lack of compassion by not only the wealthy at the top but also all of the spineless Republicans in Congress- and meanwhile, the rest of the world watches, keeps score, and rightly considers us to be untrustworthy.
Republicans are in the grip of a collective insanity. If you are the least bit corruptable and you are in the trump/musk orbit, you go full dark maga. We are seeing the manifestation of constant of hatred, rage and resentment combined with lust for power. This is as evil as it gets.
Liddle Markie is in over his head. Come to think of it, all of these little lemmings are in over their heads. Good lord can't someone stop these idiots????
I think it's all quite consistent: China and Russia are no longer going to be our "adversaries." It's therefore not undesirable for us to help them gain dominance in the countries we used to control.
I think the policy is consistent when viewed that way – and not a surprise, or a sign of a incompetence or fecklessness.
It also explains why we keep arming Israel to commit genocide. That's the kind of impact on the world MAGA wants going forward, and the Biden administration showed that Americans will go along.
I thought the statistics were pretty clear: white men, low education, low information voters.
And then who knows? A bunch of white women like me, some of my colleagues for sure. Too many people of color who believe themselves to be on the side of righteousness.
Some people still support what's happening, way too many, until it hits their pocketbook, and even then, they'll be told it's because something Biden did wrong or the Marxists that wouldn't let Trump do *everything* he wanted.
Do they see how things are connected in the world?
Boggles the mind what one should do – given the low level of information of many people who vote.
On a separate but related note, the option of continuing the status quo was clearly deeply upsetting for the people who voted for change.
Do my extremely well educated colleagues understand what happens next? No, absolutely not. They think this is good and will lead to efficiency, health, sunshine, and rainbows.
Seeing pics of Rubio today, glumly sitting across from Lavrov, praising Russia made me wonder if had any regrets for completely selling his soul? I wonder if it crossed his mind that the "Russia hoax" was in fact real? If he really feels the Gaza Riviera is a great idea? If presiding over the destruction of Ukraine inspires any guilt? If going against everything he said about USAID just a few years ago inspires any reflection? Or - when it inevitably happens and China takes Taiwan and we do nothing - will he feel any remorse? I doubt any of that will happen, he's a soulless husk and will dutifully serve until Trump gets bored with him and installs Sean Hannity. Whom every Republican Senator will vote for.

My thoughts exactly. No more the shining city on the hill…
So sad because it's so true.

Ah, Marco … trading in self-respect for what? Power? A seat at the Adult’s Table? At best, Musk/Trump will let you clear the dishes.
Rubio traded his soul for ambition. Sadly, ETTD.
What soul?

If the Republicans had a plan to help the CCP become the world's number one power, this is it.
"Undos"?
Sorry. It's "undoes."

Thoughtful, but who all signed up for this by voting for Trump? Rubio? Musk?

You’re right to an extent, but were they thinking WWIII? Russian as our buddy? China wins?
